Harvard University professors are suing to block the Trump administration's review of nearly $9 billion in federal contracts and grants awarded to the Ivy League school as part of a crackdown on what it says is antisemitism on college campuses.

In a letter to the campus community, Harvard President Alan Garber said lawyers for the school have informed the Trump administration that Harvard "will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights.

The Department of Education asked Harvard to turn over records on donations from foreign sources on Friday, alleging  that the University inaccurately disclosed foreign gifts.
