July 2025's full Moon will loom low and large in UK skies tonight. Nicknamed the Buck Moon, this cosmic event will be one of the lowest-lying full Moon's of the year and the farthest from the Sun. The Buck Moon will sit so close to the horizon that it will appear much bigger than usual, in a phenomenon known as the 'Moon illusion'.

July's full "Buck Moon" will be at its fullest on Thursday, July 10, and will be best seen at moonrise. It is the farthest full moon from the sun all year and one of the lowest in the sky.

A full “buck” moon will peak over Kansas soon, and residents can also catch the beginnings of a popular meteor shower later this month.

The Thunder Moon or Buck Moon, as it’s called, the first full moon of the astronomical summer, will occur Thursday. On July 10, the moon will rise in the southeastern sky and will be illuminated throughout the evening until it sets in the southwest.
