The Chicago White Sox designated reliever Mike Clevinger for assignment Wednesday and promoted reliever Steven Wilson from Triple-A Charlotte.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox designated right-hander Mike Clevinger for assignment on Wednesday. The 34-year-old Clevinger allowed three runs in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 12-3 loss to the Athletics. He is 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA in five appearances this year — all in relief after spending most of his career as a starter.

The White Sox announced that they have selected the contract of right-hander Steven Wilson. In a corresponding move, fellow righty Mike Clevinger has been designated for assignment. The Sox also announced that righty Justin Anderson,
