TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — After a long weekend of doubleheader practices in Northern Michigan, the Red Wings are headed back home to begin their exhibition season. It’s still early, of course; Detroit’s preseason games have yet to begin. Those games are where players have the best chance to change their standing in the organization.

The Red Wings entered training camp with a few NHL hopeful prospects striving to make the roster. With spots limited, here’s where the group stands heading into preseason play.
