Russia fired a record 728 Shahed and decoy drones at Ukraine overnight, as well as 13 cruise and ballistic missiles, the Ukrainian air force said Wednesday, in the latest escalation after weeks of mounting Russian aerial and ground attacks in the more than three-year war.
The number of Russian drones and missiles in the barrage set a single-night record and underscored Ukraine’s need for weapons.
KYIV, Ukraine — Russia fired more than 100 drones at civilian areas of Ukraine overnight, authorities said Monday, as the Kremlin dismissed the country’s transport chief after a weekend of travel chaos when Russian airports grounded hundreds of flights due to the threat of Ukrainian drone attacks.
Ukrainian officials say that Russia pounded the capital with yet another mass missile and drone attack, causing fires across the city and injuring at least 10 people a day after the heaviest aerial attack of the war so far.
