Airbnb is opening the doors to Rome's historic Colosseum for up to 16 guests for an unforgettable experience as part of their new Icons category.

In anticipation of Ridley Scott's long-awaited sequel to 'Gladiator,' Airbnb is hosting a limited experience where guests become "warriors" and train in the "art of gladiator combat," PEOPLE can exclusively announce.

For the first time in nearly 2,000 years, the Colosseum returns to its original purpose as a venue for performances.

“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination until now,” Brian Chesky, Airbnb’s co-founder and CEO, said at Icons’ Summer Release event in Los Angeles. “What we’re focused on is creating more magic in the real world — and everything we do is in service to this idea because magic is not limited to our imagination.”
