Guwahati: Manipur chief minister's office has retracted its own intelligence report gathered 10 days ago about the infiltration of "900 Kuki militants.

The Manipur Security Adviser today said intelligence received from "different quarters" about infiltration by 900 Kuki militants from Myanmar could not be substantiated on the ground, and so "there is no basis currently to believe in any such input.

The Manipur government has retracted its prior claim that 900 Kuki militants were planning to attack villages in the Imphal valley around September 28. The authorities now assert that the likelihood of such an attack is minimal and unsubstantiated.

Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh issued a joint press release, "input of infiltration of 900 trained Kuki militants from Myanmar to carry out attacks on Meiteis on September 28 could not be substantiated on the ground.
