Goalie Arvid Söderblom and the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to a two-year, $5.5 million contract, the team announced Saturday.

CHICAGO — Petr Mrazek ’s NHL future likely depended on this season. At 31 and coming off a few rocky seasons, Mrazek needed to show he could be a consistent NHL goalie to earn another contract.

Mrazek hasn’t felt this good since 2018-19, and his stats are the best they’ve been in years, too. Through his first eight games, his .921 save percentage ranks 14th in the NHL.
