An active shooter was reported on or near the campus of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, the university’s public safety department said this afternoon.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said in an evening press conference that a shelter-in-place is in effect for the greater Brown community.
At least two people at Brown University were killed Saturday and nine others were injured in critical but stable condition, police said. No one is in custody.
Providence officials provided another update on the shooting in the city.
Providence police detectives are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the side of his face.
