India and Pakistan sparred over Kashmir at the UN General Assembly after Pakistan's prime minister Shehbaz Sharif drew parallels between the people of the Himalayan territory and Palestinians. Kashmir is at the heart of a decades-old dispute between India and Pakistan, where both countries claim the region as theirs, but control only parts of it.

At the UNGA, Shehbaz Sharif said India should enter into a dialogue for “peaceful” resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

The statement came after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif alleged that India has resiled from its commitments to implement the UNSC resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

India called Shehbaz Sharif's speech at UNGA a 'travesty' and said Pakistan's fingerprints were on several terrorist incidents across the world. Earlier, Shehbaz called on India to reverse the 2019 abrogation of Article 370 and accused it of “massive expansion of its military capabilities'.

Pakistan Friday raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in the UN General Assembly, saying India should reverse the abrogation of Article 370 and enter into a dialogue with it for a “peaceful” resolution of the issue.
