BURNS, Ore. (KATU) — All evacuation notices in Harney County were lifted as of Monday morning, April 21, as the flood risk from the Silvies River significantly decreased.
The weather service describes, "Flooding is occurring and flooding is forecast for Silvies River near Burns." "At 12.0 feet, Flooding of fields will occur in the Burns area.
In the meantime, reinforcement work on the levee that runs from Foley Drive to the Silvies River is expected to be finished in a few days. Sandbagging along the levee is complete, authorities said.
But basins depending on snowpack for water storage are expected to do poorly. The Silvies River at Burns is forecast to be at 17 percent of average.
