Hillsborough County Emergency Management officials are holding a news conference as Florida's Gulf Coast prepares for the impacts of Hurricane Helene.

Hillsborough County residents living in evacuation Zone A will be under a mandatory evacuation notice beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, the county said Wednesday morning. That zone covers low-lying areas along Tampa Bay and the Hillsborough and Palm Rivers.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Marine Section rescued a jet skier who got stuck in a submerged wall near Sunken Island, the agency said in a Facebook post. Deputies were reportedly able to dislodge the jet ski and get the jet skier to safety.
