Louisiana and other northern portions of the Gulf Coast aren't expected to see any effects from the system or any other tropical activity for the next few days.

A tropical disturbance, called Invest 98L, in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring downpours and a renewed risk of flooding through Friday.

The system will likely bring heavy rainfall over southern Texas over the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). There is a low chance of the system developing into a tropical depression, with the NHC reporting a 20 percent chance of formation through the next 48 hours or seven days.
