FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills is watching the tropics as they begin to wake up. She is watching three areas, including Tropical Storm Dexter, which is moving out to sea. Mills says an area off the coast of the southeaster United States has a 40 percent chance of developing over the next week.

Tropical Storm Dexter, the fourth named storm of the 2025 hurricane season, was a bit weaker Tuesday morning as forecasters continue to track it and two other disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center. None of the systems pose an immediate threat to Louisiana.

Tropical Storm Dexter formed in the Atlantic late Sunday – and while it's moving away from the U.S., the National Hurricane Center is also watching two other areas for possible development. An Allegiant Air flight turned around and made an unplanned landing as a swath of bad weather blocked its path north through Georgia.
