A weak cold front has switched the wind back to the north today. However, unlike the arctic blast several days ago, this wind shift will have minimal impact on our overall weather. It will be mostly sunny across North Texas today and chilly.

“Still cold (and below normal), but a welcomed improvement to what we’ve experienced the past few days,” the weather service said in its morning forecast discussion. Overnight lows the next two nights should be in the teens before we settle into the 20s Saturday night into Sunday.

A First Alert Weather Day has been declared for Thursday due to a prolonged hard freeze during the morning hours.

The extreme cold is firmly in the past. Today remains our best chance for snow for the rest of the week. A couple slick spots cannot be ruled out depending on how much snow your community picks up, but we have had much worse road conditions this Winter.
