Ex-Formula 1 team owner and media personality Eddie Jordan has died, according to a statement by his family. Often known simply as “EJ,” he ran his own Jordan team in the 1990s and 2000s in F1. Jordan was undergoing treatment for what he had called “quite aggressive” cancer of the bladder and prostate which spread to his spine and pelvis.

Everything Eddie Jordan did was done with passion and heart. That’s as great a legacy as anyone can wish to leave in F1.

Everyone knows the Jordan headlines, from handing Michael Schumacher his debut in 1991, having a realistic shot of the 1999 title with Heinz-Harald Frentzen, giving Damon Hill his last win and that madcap Brazilian Grand Prix in 2003 with one of the most underrated drives/victories in history by Giancarlo Fisichella.
