WASHINGTON (AP) — Elon Musk has long railed against the U.S. government, saying a crushing number of federal investigations and safety programs have stymied Tesla, his electric car company, and its efforts to create fleets of robotaxis and other self-driving automobiles.

In the days before Musk’s DOGE set its sights on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, X revealed plans for a payments system the agency might have overseen.

The shift in opinion on Musk comes amid concerns about how much power the unelected billionaire has in how the country is run.
