The feature, called AI Overviews, was introduced last summer and is powered by Google’s Gemini language model, a system similar to ChatGPT.

However, like AI Overviews, AI Mode can make mistakes. Google provides an explanation page showing why this is the case, and asking users to give feedback if they see something that’s not right.
