The Osage Nation is attempting to build the first tribally-owned and operated gaming facility in Missouri under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The organizations were dispatched to a man calling for help in the Osage River near Taos around 3:48 p.m., according to the release.
The Osage, who ceded the last of their Missouri lands in 1825, is now a federally recognized tribe of about 25,000 members. The tribe is currently based on 1.5 million acres in northeast Oklahoma.
