Russell Henley hardly missed a putt. Scottie Scheffler hardly missed a fairway. They led a parade of players who seized on the soft conditions at East Lake to begin the race for the Tour Championship and the season-ending FedExCup title.

The final group is coming down the home stretch and Scottie Scheffler still leads by two as of 5:15 p.m. ET. That lead was cut to one for a brief moment when Scheffler made two bogeys in three holes on Nos. 12 and 14, but he bounced back with a birdie from the fairway bunker on No. 15.

MacIntyre, the lefty from Scotland, got out of several jams, none bigger than the short fifth hole when he drove over a hazard line into the bushes. He decided to hack out, and it shot some 70 feet away for a putt straight down a series of ridges.
