Winter storm: Death toll rises as winter storm continues dumping snow across the U.S Heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain are slamming large parts of the U.S. as the dangerously cold weather causes major power outages and travel disruptions.
The massive storm dumped heavy snow and ice across a huge swath of the United States, leaving more than 800,000 homes without power.
At least 22 deaths were attributed to the weekend’s snowstorm. More than 700,000 homes and businesses, particularly in the South, remained without power on Monday, and officials said it could take days to restore it.
