Alexandr Wang, co-founder of Scale AI, has parlayed his networking skills into a $14.3 billion investment from Meta and a new job in Meta's "superintelligence" group, reporting to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Wang owns an estimated 14% of Scale AI and became the world's youngest self-made billionaire. Today, Wang is worth $3.6 billion according to estimates from Forbes.

Scale AI’s ad and Wang’s letter appear to be a public effort at influencing AI policy and the Trump administration’s role in ensuring U.S. dominance in the field.

Scale's CEO, Alexandr Wang, will also become a top-level Meta executive, the startup confirmed. In January, the 28-year-old wrote a letter to Trump outlining how the US needs to invest in AI.

Jason Droege, Scale’s current chief strategy officer, will hop in as interim CEO. Scale AI noted that Meta’s investment will be used to pay investors and shareholders, as well as to fuel growth.

While Wang is joining Meta to work on its superintelligence arm, he's set to continue to serve as a director on Scale's board. "The idea of not being a Scalien was, frankly, unimaginable.
