Food poisoning has struck another Yankee.  Austin Wells was out of the lineup Friday for the Yankees’ 1-0 win over the Rays after waking up with a case of what he believed to be food poisoning — which is what took out Cody Bellinger for a game last week in Detroit.

Less than 20 games into the 2025 season, two isolated food-related ailments have strangely impacted the Yankees' lineup.

TAMPA — Food poisoning struck the Yankees again on Friday, forcing Austin Wells out of the Bombers’ lineup against the Rays. Wells, who had a scheduled off day on Thursday, said he started feeling sick and threw up Friday morning. He wasn’t sure what made him sick, but he promised it had nothing to do with his burrito-ranking Instagram account.
