Authorities have detained the owner and constructor of a building that collapsed during a magnitude 6.1 earthquake in northwestern Turkey.

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Turkey's northwestern Balikesir Province on Sunday, causing approximately a dozen buildings to collapse and trapping at least two people in debris, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) earthquake map.

Rescue efforts were continuing after the 6.1-magnitude temblor struck in a region that is crisscrossed by fault lines.
