SCHOENEICHE, Germany -- The U.S. government is on a global egg hunt, seeking exports from countries in Europe and elsewhere to ease a severe shortage that has caused egg prices at grocery stores to hit record highs.

A Community Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at South Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, 11207 Loop Road, Fayetteville. It is open to residents of South Mountain and children or grandchildren of residents, up to age 12.

Egg hunts are happening at parks, churches and community centers across San Diego County in April. Most are around Easter, which is April 20. Many are free and include eggs filled with candy. Some include festivities such as bounce houses, games, music, entertainment, face painting and crafts. Check venue websites to confirm times.
