Coco Gauff had roughly one month off after winning the 2024 WTA Finals. The 20-year-old has not missed a beat in 2025. Earlier today, Gauff defeated Poland's Iga Swiatek to help win the United Cup for Team USA.

Coco Gauff overcame second-ranked Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-4 in the opening singles of the United Cup mixed teams tennis event and the United States went on to win the final by beating Poland 2-0.

Coco Gauff says she is feeling great and plans to play "confident tennis" in a United Cup showdown versus Iga Swiatek. On Saturday, the top-ranked American female tennis player impressively handled the business against Karolina Muchova, dismantling the Czech 6-1 6-4 to help the United States reach the final in Sydney.

Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff meet for a 14th time on the WTA Tour and it is Swiatek who leads the head-to-head 11-2. It was Gauff who won the last meeting however at the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia at the end of 2024 but it is hard to pay too much attention to that one given the fact Swiatek had not played since the US Open and clearly was not hugely motivated to play that tournament.

The United States have won the United Cup for the second time after defeating Poland in the final on Sunday. Coco Gauff began in style in Sydney with a 6-4, 6-4 win over world number two Iga Swiatek,
