JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli forces seized a Gaza-bound aid boat and detained Greta Thunberg and other activists who were on board early Monday, enforcing a longstanding blockade of the Palestinian territory that has been tightened during the Israel-Hamas war.
Israel’s interception of the Madleen is not without precedent. On May 2, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition ship Conscience was seriously damaged during a drone attack while carrying humanitarian aid bound for Gaza. The attack ended its journey.
After the Madleen was intercepted by Israeli forces, Tánaiste Simon Harris reiterated Ireland's call for an end to the blockade on Gaza.
