Pope Francis has appointed Belleville Bishop Michael McGovern as the sixth archbishop of Omaha, Nebraska, according to announcements by McGovern and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Monday.

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop George J. Lucas and appointed the Rev. Michael McGovern, Bishop of the Diocese of Belleville, Illinois, as the sixth Archbishop of Omaha.
