Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed into law several education changes that will require schools to let students leave for off-site religious classes and that opponents worry will out LGBTQ students. DeWine, a Republican, signed House Bill 8 on Wednesday.

The signing comes as conservatives nationally are increasingly critical of public schools as too liberal and seek to quash discussion of hot-button topics, particularly around gender identity.
