Clash of Champions has a rich history, most of which isn't tied to WWE. It started live in the NWA in 1988 and was used similarly to how WWE uses Saturday Night's Main Event today. Not a PLE that takes place once a year, but not a weekly show either. Something that falls somewhere in between that takes place every few months.

WWE has added another marquee match to the "Saturday Night's Main Event" card. During "Monday Night Raw," WWE announced that World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will take on "NXT" star Je'Von Evans and TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater. The match will be held inside Capital One Arena in Washington on Saturday.

Saturday Night's Main Event from Washington, DC, will close out WWE's specialty live events for 2025. It will host the final match of John Cena's career, as the 17-time champion will face Gunther.
