Seth Lugo will remain in Kansas City for the foreseeable future. The right-hander and the Royals are finalizing a multi-year contract extension, according to multiple reports on Sunday night. The new deal is expected to be a deal worth about $46 million over two years and includes a vesting option with Kansas City, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported.

There was plenty of speculation that the Kansas City Royals would trade Seth Lugo before the deadline, but the star ace isn't going anywhere this season.

The Royals have spent weeks scouring the trade market for an outfield bat to add to their starting lineup. On Saturday, several days ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline, they found their guy: The Royals acquired Randal Grichuk from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a young relief pitcher.
