The final week of the AHSAA softball season is getting started on Monday in Oxford. Class 2A and 5A will begin games to begin the AHSAA state softball tournament at Choccolocco Park, with action set to get started at 9:30 a.m. The original 9 a.m. beginning has been moved due to inclement weather concerns.

In the second round of the Class 2 District 6 Softball Tournament, the Diamond Wildcats took on the Lamar Lady Tigers at a neutral field on the campus of Mt. Vernon High School. Wildcats pitcher Taelyn Reeder got things going in the field for Diamond with all three of the team’s outs

Meghan Johansen and Sarah Czeslaw each singled and knocked in a run for fourth-seeded Absegami, which broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat fifth-seeded Hammonton 2-1 in the Cape-Atlantic League Tournament quarterfinals in Galloway.

Lake Fenton, Grand Blanc, Linden and Goodrich all posted winning records in weekend tournaments, with Ortonville Brandon also claiming the Heather Williamson Memorial Tournament.
