A preliminary magnitude-4.4 earthquake in the San Bernardino area produced shaking that was felt over widespread parts of Southern California. The quake, reported at about 9:30 a.m., was one of four of magnitude-2.5 or greater in the area, which includes the communities of Muscoy and Rialto.

A preliminary 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck Southern California Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
