Multiple rounds of storms pounded the Chicago area Monday afternoon and evening — prompting tornado and flash flood warnings, and causing flight and commuter train delays, power outages, and other problems.

Oswego East High School will remain closed Tuesday as crews continue repairs from storm damage sustained during Monday night’s severe weather.

Strong storms swept through the Chicago area Saturday evening, bringing torrential rain, hail, and damaging winds, causing significant damage in several suburbs. In one suburb, the storms tore the roof off of an apartment building.
