Indianapolis is gearing up for an open quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, but Ballard would not rule out a pick.

For the first time since the Colts signed Daniel Jones in free agency, Shane Steichen was available to answer questions about the quarterback.

With the NFL draft on the horizon, the Indianapolis Colts may not be done adding to the quarterback position just yet.

Ever since the Colts announced that Anthony Richardson would compete this offseason with another quarterback, fans have speculated who that other player would be. It was then that the Colts acquired Daniel Jones to fill that spot, and head coach Shane Steichen gave some insight into how the competition for the starting quarterback job would look.

The Indianapolis Colts have been linked off and on during the NFL offseason to Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro edge rusher and 2024 sack leader Trey Hendrickson. However, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports has reported that Cincy has cut off trade talks.

As offseason workouts approach, Anthony Richardson faces competition for the starting job against fellow quarterback Daniel Jones.

"I love Anthony," Franklin said, NFL.com's Kevin Patra shared. "Obviously, being in there with him in the trenches through the highs and lows of the season last year, it was tough, but [I'm] obviously supporting him and his growth."

Former New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold shrugged of his label of being a former top-five bust by making his first Pro Bowl in 2024 before cashing in on a $100 million contract this offseason.

However, tight end is the biggest remaining requirement to check off every box. Steichen can use a target for the middle of the field and short pass game for Richardson, and that will also be addressed in the upcoming NFL draft to have a young tight end hopefully blossom with the former Florida Gators QB.
