Daniel Marron, a professor of psychology, from Yuma, Arizona, set off on Valentine's Day for a “typical paddle” on an outrigger kayak but failed to return home, his family has said.

Through investigation, rescuers said they learned the kayak belonged to a man, identified by family as Danny Marron of Yuma, Arizona, who left Mission Bay at about 11:45 a.m., KNSD reported.
