Trump today said he approved the $14.9 billion merger of Japanese-owned Nippon Steel Corporation and United States Steel Corporation. He asserted in a post on Truth Social that the deal would create 70,000 jobs (US Steel currently employs around 22,000 people, down from a two-decade peak near 50,000).
