Virgil van Dijk escaped a red card after elbowing Richarlison in Liverpool's second-leg clash of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham, which they won 4-0.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk got into a tangle with Tottenham striker Richarlison after just two minutes at Anfield.

Liverpool outclassed a blunt Tottenham team 4-0 on Sunday to book their spot in the Carabao Cup final, but Virgil Van Dijk said he was disappointed with parts of his side's performance.

The two sides did battle on Thursday night for a spot at Wembley and to take on Newcastle in the final of the competition, with Eddie Howe's side laying in wait having knocked out Arsenal.

Van Dijk caught the Tottenham forward with a stray arm as they pair tussled for the ball in the second minute at Anfield, with Richarlison seeing holding his face after an apparent elbow.
