The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a winter weather advisory for all of its north Alabama counties. It will be in effect until 7 p.m. Monday. The weather service said up to 1 inch of snow will be possible, and any leftover rainfall could freeze on roads, making for dangerous driving conditions.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a winter weather advisory Monday for all of north Alabama and is forecasting cold temperatures through the week with the possibility of snow late Thursday into Saturday morning in north Alabama.

Due to the vagaries of weather in Alabama in winter, winter precipitation may happen in the far reaches of northern part of the state − or there may be a mix of cold rain and snow flurries as far south as the Highway 80 corridor.

The National Weather Service said confidence continued to increase about the probability of winter precipitation affecting the northern half of the state on Thursday into Friday. But forecasters continued to stress that only a degree or two could separate who gets snow,
