A Cook County Circuit Court judge has blocked appointments by Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard, including a new police chief

Judge Ieshia Gray, who is running for retention this year, is being accused of bias and unfair treatment by an attorney, after she repeatedly denied his requests for a new judge.

Henyard had appointed a new village manager, village attorney, and police chief—none of whom can take office with the ruling now in place.

The bitter battle for control of south suburban Dolton took another turn Wednesday evening when trustees opposed to Mayor Tiffany Henyard said they were granted a key ruling limiting Henyard’s power.

A Cook County judge has sided with village trustees in Dolton and has ordered that the mayor not make appointments without approval by the trustees. The outcome means three recent appointments by Mayor Tiffany Henyard are blocked.
