Canadiens Defeat Oilers 4-1 with Complete Team Effort
Up until the third period of the Montreal Canadiens’ 4-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, star Connor McDavid had only unofficially impacted on the scoring.
Ivan Demidov gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 2:28 of the second period. Demidov passed to Slafkovsky below the goal line, took the return pass in the right circle, moved in and beat Skinner with a wrist shot.
Calvin Pickard did his bit. The Edmonton Oilers did not, as Edmonton lost 4-1 to the Montreal Canadiens. The Oilers give up four breakaways and Pickard stopped them all. But he couldn’t stop everything. And Edmonton’s power play simply could not beat Montreal’s own hot goalie Jakub Dobes, at least until it was too late in the third.
