The Minnesota Twins reinstated center fielder Byron Buxton from the 10-day injured list on Monday before beginning a three-game series against the New York Yankees, after the All-Star missed 13 games with inflammation in his left rib cage.

"Sounds like there's a good chance the #MNTwins will activate Byron Buxton (ribs) during the upcoming Yankees series in New York, perhaps as soon as Monday." Buxton’s importance to the Twins’ organization began over a decade ago when he was selected second overall in the 2012 MLB Draft out of high school.

While the Twins conducted a fire sale at the deadline, Buxton was never a serious trade candidate. He earned his second All-Star nod this season, and through 85 games, has 92 hits, 68 runs scored, 14 doubles, 23 home runs, 59 RBIs, and a .905 OPS.
