An investigation is underway after a small plane crashed in the West Valley this week, killing the pilot, authorities said.

On Wednesday evening, police say the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office located plane wreckage near Ocotillo and Bullard.

Several agencies were investigating a crash scene in Goodyear after the wreckage of a previously missing plane was discovered.

The wreckage of a small aircraft was found southwest of the Valley on Wednesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
