President Donald Trump bid farewell to Elon Musk in the Oval Office. The billionaire entrepreneur is ending his work in the administration on Friday.
President Trump said that Elon Musk "will, always, be with us, helping all the way." Musk's tenure as a "special government employee" is formally ending.
Though he was always expected to eventually step back from leading DOGE — since his special government employee status expires on Friday — it was widely suspected that he would continue working for the administration in a less central role.
Elon Musk will appear with President Trump in the Oval Office at 1:30 p.m. on Friday for a press conference/exit interview as he goes back to the private sector and leaves DOGE behind.
