Custer State Park in western South Dakota will have an antelope hunting season later this year, its first since 2016.

However, the facility closed in 2016, and the chapel fell into disrepair. Because of this, the management of Custer State Park had an idea to give the Mickelson Chapel a new lease on life.

In 2016, when Custer State Park last had an antelope hunting season, the state received 1,223 applications for three available buck licenses, and three bucks were harvested by hunters that year.
