DETROIT -- Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez threw a brief jolt into the trade market when he left Monday’s game in the ninth inning after being hit in the right hand. Suárez was struck by a 96 mph fastball from Detroit Tigers reliever Will Vest and quickly exited the game with an athletic trainer.
Their 6-0 loss to right-hander Paul Skenes on Sunday, July 27, meant the Diamondbacks left town having dropped two of three to a subpar Pittsburgh Pirates team. It also meant they lost a second consecutive game started by a pitcher who could be traded in the coming days.
