Hamas says it is willing to lay down its weapons after two years of war in Gaza, but Israel may not agree to its main condition.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — With the remains of one hostage still in Gaza, the first phase of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas is nearly complete, after a two-month process plagued by delays and finger-pointing.

Israel announced it had killed a senior Hamas leader who served as one of the architects of the Oct. 7 attack, dealing a significant blow to the terror group's military capabilities.

The rights group said it had documented atrocities committed by Palestinian armed groups, including murder, imprisonment, torture and sexual violence.
