Regardless of how you ultimately feel about the tone Section 31 goes for—which definitely leans hard into trying to be cool and cynically jokey a lot of the time—and perhaps even regardless of how threadbare most of the primary cast is treated by Section 31 ‘s script,

It’s a fun vibe that gives the entire cast a chance to ham things up, but whenever Section 31 slows down to zoom in on Georgiou’s inner turmoil, you can sense how much more substance there could have been to these characters if they were fleshed out over the course of a series.

Section 31, a new Star Trek spin-off movie released on January 24, isn’t very good according to fans and critics. But it does end with a wild cameo that I would have never expected.
