Former NFL player and NPR commentator Tim Green has been battling ALS since 2018. While his physical condition deteriorates, his mind remains sharp. He's written a new novel called: Final Season.

A well-known voice on NPR in the 1990s, Tim Green is one of a growing number of former football players with the degenerative illness Lou Gehrig's disease. And he's not hiding it.

The Falcons will conduct a 50/50 raffle for fans at the teams’ matchup Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with the proceeds going to the foundations of Gleason and Green: Team Gleason and Tackle ALS.

Tackle ALS was started in 2018 by former Atlanta Falcons Linebacker Tim Green in partnership with the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

A best-selling author since his playing days, Green will appear on CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday night to tell his story. He's one of at least 16 other former NFL players to have suffered from ALS.
