Devastating floods struck the northern Philippines on Monday, when Tropical Storm Toraji became the fourth tropical storm to hit the island nation in three weeks.

A disturbance swirling over the Caribbean Sea has now been designated as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nineteen on Wednesday, and forecasters say the system will eventually likely strengthen into Tropical Storm Sara in the coming days.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone 19, which could impact Florida sometime next week.PTC 19 is currently located about 380 miles east of Isla Guanaja Honduras. The NHC adds that environmental conditions are conducive to development and predicts confidently that a tropical depression will form in the next couple of days.

Potential Tropical Cyclone 19 has formed in the Caribbean, bringing the threat of a tropical storm or hurricane in the last few weeks of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. PTC 19 is a broad area of low pressure over the central Caribbean Sea.
